Why Cutwise

What a company gets from Cutwise as a platform: media delivery at scale, computing capacity that follows demand, control over who sees each diamond, and open integration.

Cutwise carries the media, the measurements and the grading of your diamonds, and it decides who may see them. This page lists what that gives a company that runs its stock on Cutwise.

Media delivery

  • Content delivery network. Diamond videos, photos and the player come from a content delivery network. A mailing can send hundreds of buyers to the same diamond at once, and the load lands on the network, not on your website.
  • Interactive inspection. A buyer rotates a diamond, zooms in and steps through it frame by frame.
  • Side-by-side comparison. A buyer opens two diamonds next to each other.
  • Player API. The player has a JavaScript API, so your developers can build your own presentation around it.
  • Embedding. The Cutwise widget puts diamonds, videos, images and performance data on your website with one iframe.

Capacity that follows demand

  • A pool of workers per computation. Rendering, grading, reconstruction, Dead Zone analysis and 3D conversion each run in their own pool of workers. A pool grows with its queue and shrinks to zero when the queue is empty.
  • Priority and estimates. For eligible tasks you choose a faster priority and see an estimated completion time. The estimate is a forecast, not a commitment.
  • Background exports. Stock exports to CSV or Excel, and a large export runs in the background while you keep working.

Reliability

  • Several replicas. The API runs as several replicas with health checks. A replica that fails its check stops receiving requests until it recovers.
  • Monitoring. Metrics and dashboards track the platform and the queues of every computation.

Control over your data

  • Company ownership. Every diamond belongs to a company. Access comes from that ownership and from grants you give to individual users.
  • Visibility per diamond. You decide whether a diamond is restricted, shared by a widget link, or listed in the catalog. Anyone who has a widget link can open it.
  • Selective disclosure. You can hide the cut design and the 3D model in the reports you share.
  • Audit trail. Every grant and every revocation of an administrative permission is recorded.
  • Staged access to new features. A new capability can be enabled for your company before it reaches everyone.

Integration

  • OAuth 2.0. Applications connect with the authorization code flow with PKCE, client credentials or refresh tokens.
  • Google sign-in. Users can sign in with a Google account.
  • Versioned API. Product models and uploads are available through versioned API endpoints.
  • HTTPS. The API, sign-in and the widget work over HTTPS only.

Open knowledge

  • Documentation. Every screen, service and import format is described in the documentation.
  • Knowledge base. The knowledge base explains the optics and the metrics behind every Cutwise grade.
